The Catholic community has a tradition to stop and pray on the First Friday of the month.
Our next Prayer Chain will be held on Friday 5th May
The OLICAT Schools community has embraced this practice. Each First Friday every hour between 6am to 6pm a member of our OLICAT Schools community will pray. After each hour we pass the prayer baton on! You can follow the chain in real time on our Twitter account @OLICATChaplains
Who can pray?
We pray as individuals, families, groups and class groups. We promote our prayers via Twitter. Each hour a different person takes a lead and they are named, but lots of other people join them, comment and 'like' our Twitter posts and so a rhythm of prayer is established.
How can you pray?
We encourage any type of prayer. It might be a traditional catholic prayer such as the Rosary or in Lent the Stations of the Cross. Maybe reflecting on scripture, perhaps using lectio divina or an app such as lectio 365 or the Jesuits 3 minute retreats. Equally, it might be a type of creative prayer such as a prayer walk outdoors in God's beautiful creation, listening to worship music or enjoying a prayer space in school. We have used finger prayers and bubble prayers and welcome any new ideas!
